ILT arose from the study of theories of brain development and functioning. As a result, we believe that most problems resulting in difficulties with learning, coping with the demands of life and work and recuperating from traumatic brain injuries, are rooted in one (or more) of three areas:
- Neurochemistry1,
- Neuroanatomy and
- Neurophysiology.
This serves as a guide for our exploration into the possible causes of an individual’s difficulties.
As we work with our clients, we cover the following areas:
Neurochemistry
Nutrition
Under this heading, in addition to general brain-healthy nutritional needs, we include the following:
- Digestion
- Allergies and intolerances
- Blood sugar levels
- Toxins, pollutants, parasites
- Candida
Neuroanatomy
Focus areas here include:
- Brain ‘wiring’ and
- Hemispheric specialisation
Neurophysiology
Of vital importance to our learning and functioning is:
- The role of movement in the development of the nervous system and
- The sensory-motor system
Some of these areas are discussed briefly below to illustrate their significance to the health and well-being of the nervous system.
